T C JARVIS STERLING SILVER 50g VICTORIAN CROSSING SWEEPER MENU HOLDER 1973 BOXED
A boxed solid cast English solid sterling silver place card or menu holder. It is hallmarked for London 1973 with the maker being that of Thomas Charles Jarvis. It has been superbly designed being cast in the form of a Victorian Crossing Sweeper with the milestone numbered 6, this holds the place card. A crossing sweeper swept the road before people in fancy shoes crossed removing the horse manure and other waste etc... There was a set produced by TC Jarvis - all Victorian street characters. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs. It measures approx. 2.25 inches (5.6cm) tall by 1.5 inches (4.2cm) across the base and weighs 50 grams excluding the box. An interesting well made piece.
