Very unusual sterling silver umbilical cord tongs clamps. They are marker STERLING and test as such, most likely made in Germany or Holland c1900 for export. They have been superbly designed being cast in the form of a stork and used to hold the umbilical cord of a new born - most likely then given to the child later in life. They are in superb condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs. They measure approx. 4 inches (10cm) tall and weigh 44 grams. Superbly made very high quality rare examples.
