A beautiful German Hanau solid silver cigarette / cigar, jewellery or table box. It is hallmarked with the German Hanau marks and tests as 800 grade silver - I would date it to c1900. It has been superbly made being finely decorated with classical figures to the lid and foliage to the sides. It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs, the inside is clean and gilded. It measures approx. 4.75 inches (12.2cm) across by 3.25 inches (8.2cm) wide by 1.75 inches (4.4cm) tall and weighs 238 grams. A very well made piece.
