A superb very interesting American sterling silver mounted gavel. It is unmarked but tests as sterling silver. It has been beautifully made from a polished hard wood and mounted with a silver band engraved 'Presented to Hugh Brown President 18941-1942 Chicago Campus Association of Northwestern University'. It is is in super condition being free from dings splits and repairs. It measures approx. 10 inches (26cm) long by 3.5 inches wide and weighs 144 grams. A very nicely designed interesting example.
