A very rare beautiful German Hanau solid silver pounce pot / box (or very large pepper). It is hallmarked with Hanau marks. It tests as high grade silver and dates to c1890. It has been superbly made in the form of an bird. It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs, the inside is clean. It measures approx. 4 inches (10.2cm) tall by 2.25 inches (5.6cm) wide and weighs 110 grams. A very rare well made piece.
