A very rare Scottish interest Georgian antique solid sterling silver snuff box. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1821 with the maker being Thomas Bartleet. It has been superbly designed and been inscribed 'PRESENTED TO Mr William Rose BY THE PROPRIETORS OF THE Glasgow Free Press, as a mark of the high Respect they feel for his services while in their employment his integrity and his indefatigability'. It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. The hinge is smooth and tight, the inside gilded and clean. It measures over 3.25 inches (8.6cm) long by 2.25 inches (5.6cm) wide by 1 inch (2.6cm) tall and weighs 98 grams. A high quality example.
