A rare Georgian solid sterling silver fancy back mote spoon. It is hallmarked with the makers mark TW. I would date it to c1760s. For those unaware these were used for straining tea and removing tea leaves (motes) from tea, the spike was used for unblocking the spout. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs, engraved with the letter M. It measures approx. 5.25 inches (13.2cm) long by almost 1 inch (2.5cm) wide and weighs 8 grams. A rare piece.
