A beautiful rare English solid sterling silver pyx and glass container (travelling communion set). It is hallmarked for London 1961 with the maker being A R Mowbray & Co Ltd. It has been superbly designed having a jar (possibly for holding holy water/wine or ointment) and a pyx. It has been engraved 'IN MEMORY OF EDWARD WYATT M.A.OXON SON OF THE 1ST VICTAR OF ST WILFRED'S CHURCH AND OF HIS WIFE GRACE EVELYN WOODS AND OF THEIR DAUGHTER DELIA MARGARET GIVEN BY D.D.B.' (Oxon is short for Oxford). It is in superb condition being free from dings splits chips cracks distortions and repairs. The whole piece measures 4 inches (10.2cm) tall by over 1.75 inches ( 4.8cm) wide and weights 212 grams including the jar and 114 grams excluding it. A very good quality rare piece.
