A rare English Edwardian antique solid sterling silver menu holder. It is hallmarked for London 1901 with the maker being Samuel Jacob. It has been superbly designed being in the form of King Alfred. It is in good condition being free from dings splits and repairs, it does have the pommel missing. It measures approx. 3.75 inches (9.6cm) tall including the wooden base by almost 2.5 inches (6.4cm) across the base and weighs 50 grams (including the base). A very nice quality piece.
