A super quality cased Irish solid sterling silver letter opener. It is hallmarked for Dublin 1971 with the maker being that of The Royal Irish Silver Company. It has been superbly made being a in the form of a gladius and Roman soldier. It is in super condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs, the box its also great. It measures approx. 8.25 inches (21cm) long by over 0.75 inch (1.8cm) wide and weighs 62 grams excluding the case. A very well designed piece.
