AMERICAN STERLING SILVER FORT PITT PITTSBURGH SPOON 1891 ANTIQUE MILITARY 24g

£38.00
Item number: 12140

A very interesting American antique solid sterling silver spoon. It is hallmarked for STERLING along with the maker mark of E P Roberts & Sons and the PAT date 1891. It has been superbly designed with the terminal being in the form of Pittsburgh's Coat of Arms and the bowl depicting Port Pitt. Fort Pitt was a fort built by British forces between 1759 and 1761 during the French and Indian War at the confluence of the Monongahela and Allegheny rivers, where the Ohio River is formed in western Pennsylvania (modern day Pittsburgh). It is in superb condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs. It measures approx. 5.5 inches (14cm) long by almost 1.25 inches (3cm) wide and weighs 24 grams. A super quality example.
