Beautiful interesting English Georgian antique solid sterling silver sugar tongs. They are hallmarked with the Lion passant mark, the Georgian head mark and the date letter C for 1798 along with the the makers marks of Peter and Ann Bateman interestingly overstruck most likely by a Georgian retailer or a silversmith who purchased old stock. They have been beautifully designed and are in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs. They measure approx. 5.5 inches (14.2cm) long and weigh 37 grams. Superb examples.
