A beautiful German Hanau export solid sterling silver novelty box. It is hallmarked with the German Hanau silver marks along with the English import hallmarks for Sheffield 1896 with the importers mark being Samuel Boyce (or Boaz) Landeck. It has been beautifully made being in the form of bellows which apparently at the time symbolised purity and Gods purification of man. It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs, the inside is clean and gilded. It measures approx. 3.75 inches (9.5cm) long by 1.75 inches (4.4cm) wide by over 0.5 inch (1.7cm) tall and weighs 30 grams. A very high quality example.
