A rare very large Georgian English antique solid sterling silver chalice or goblet. It is hallmarked for London 1800 with the maker being possibly Robert Gaze. It has been superbly designed and the inside of the cup is gilded. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs, I think the hallmarks must have split the base rim when struck but was put right when returned to the silversmith as their makers marks over strike it (see final photo). It measures over 7 inches (18.3cm) tall by over 4 inches (10.4cm) across the rim by the same across the base and is heavy weighting 372 grams (not weighted). A very good quality well made piece.
