GEORGE II c1740 STERLING SILVER MOTE SPOON GEORGIAN ANTIQUE MINT

£165.00
Item number: 36292

A rare Georgian sterling silver mote spoon. It is hallmarked for London c1740's, possibly date code 'f', with no makers mark. I suspect it is an early example as it is quite plain, they tended to become more elaborate later on. For those unaware these were used for straining tea and removing tea leaves (motes) from tea, the spike was used for unblocking the spout. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs. It measures approx. 5 inches (13.3cm) long and weighs 7 grams. A rare piece.
