A superb rare large English solid sterling silver presentation trowel. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1961 with the makers mark being that of Marples & Beasley. It has been superbly made being engraved 'INSTITUTION FOR THE BLIND WOLVERHAMPTON DUDLEY & DISTRICT NEW HEADQUARTERS BUILDING AT SEDGLEY PRESENTED TO MR. ALAN GREEN M.P PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY MINISTRY OF LABOUR 6TH OCT.1961" It is in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs, very faint edge knock, see final photo. It measures approx. 10.25 inches (26cm) long by 4 inches (10cm) wide and weighs 162 grams. A unique interesting piece.
