A superb rare English Victorian antique solid sterling silver combination sovereign / vesta case. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1897 with the maker being A & J Zimmerman Ltd (Arthur & John Zimmerman). It has been superbly designed and is in super condition being free from dings splits and repairs, the sovereign section lid should most likely spring open but it doesn't it simply drops open when the button is depressed. It measures approx. 3.25 inches (8.2cm) long by 1.25 inches (3.2cm) wide and weighs 52 grams. A superbly made rare piece.
