Item number:

A very interesting English solid sterling silver cigarette case. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1941 with the maker’s mark being that of John D McAllister of Glasgow. It has been superbly designed being engine turned with a vacant cartouche, the inside has been gilded and engraved with the inscription 'Presented to Harold Tudor By his Colleagues on the Liverpool "Echo" Aug 1942'. I suspect this is the same Harold Tudor who was later responsible for establishing the Eisteddfod Music and Poetry Festival? It is in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs. It measures approx. 4.5 inches (11.5cms) long by over 3.25 inches (8.6cms) wide and weighs 158 grams. A superbly made high-quality very interesting piece.
